The FBI and local law enforcement officials in California, Oregon, and Washington State are seeking the public`s assistance in identifying an unknown female whose body was found in 1989. Skeletal remains of the woman were located in a ditch, covered in tree limbs, in Seattle, Washington.

Authorities believe the woman may be a female with a known alias of Rita Lang, who was arrested numerous times in the late 1970s and 1980s. In 1977, a woman was arrested for petty theft in Sacramento,
California, but was released before her true identity was ascertained. The false name she gave police was Brenda N. O`Neil, with an alias of Brenda Victor, and a date of birth of April 27, 1958. She was fingerprinted and assigned a unique number which has allowed law enforcement authorities to keep track of her as she was arrested multiple times thereafter for drugs and prostitution.  She also used the names Sherri Edwards, Sherri Marie Edwards, and Janet Dee.

In 1979, the woman was arrested in San Jose, California. In 1981, she was arrested in Fresno, California. In 1982, she was arrested in Portland, Oregon. In the 1980s, the woman was arrested several times in King County, Washington, under the alias of Rita Lang. The last time she was seen alive was in 1988, when she got out of jail in Washington. On November 8, 1988, she failed to appear in court on drug-related charges. One year later, on October 3, 1989, the unidentified skeletal remains of a female with similarities to Rita Lang were discovered by construction workers in a ditch along a fence at a freight company in Seattle. The remains may have been there for up to as much as a year.

The victim is described as a Black female, age 30 to 40 years, approximately 5’ 03” tall and weighing 100 to 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.  She had extensive dental work, including a partial upper.  She had an 18” scar on left forearm and tattoos on left forearm and right arm.  Found on the body were a gold woman’s Baylor brand wrist band watch on her left hand, and a pair of white and turquoise Diadora brand hi-top shoes, size 7.5.
