Calls are received on the local Crime Alert tips line phone by professional tip takers. Their phones do not provide caller ID, and the tipster's conversation is never recorded. The professional tip taker sends the completed tips to our Crime Alert Program. Crime Alert personnel makes initial inquiries with the facts provided within the tip and then forward the information to the investigating officer. Tip calls are accepted regarding any publicized request for information, such as "Crime of the Week" or other crime(s) the caller has knowledge of.

By guaranteeing a caller`s anonymity, Crime Alert allows the caller to give information in a positive atmosphere without the prospect of retribution. By offering cash rewards for information leading to indictment or arrests, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.
